Bringing the magic of tango, one dance at a time

Constantinos Papachristidis
Hi there! As the name implies, I'm Greek (mainly, as I also have US roots). Like many non-Dutch people living in Netherlands, I have an immigrant background and I've been living in Netherlands since 2017. Obviously, missing the long sunny days and crystal blue waters of my home(s), so I quickly picked up the local habit of complaining about the rainy weather
If you want to get to know our community, we'll sure be in touch and I'll be more than happy to help you feel a part of our little corner and, should you want to, help you gain more confidence in dancing tango.
My story so far
Like most, I stumbled upon tango on accident. It all started dancing back in 2022, when in Utrecht's 900 year celebration I was invited by a friend to go for a free tango tryout. Lucky for me, I was in my "yes" phase and was trying out fun activities. One thing lead to another, I signed up for my first course, that led me to hear the music of tango and eventually fall in love with the dance itself. Since then I've been extensively learning, practicing, training, and travelling in search of knowledge, and new experiences to enrich my understanding of tango. I've had the fortune to learn from several esteemed teachers & dancers, and travel to several countries already
For me tango started as a way to be more active & healthy. Eventually, it evolved as a means to connect with my family roots, and to process and express emotions in an artistic healthy way. It opened me to many wonderful experiences and I'm forever grateful to have taken my first tango step.
My approach in teaching
I could write a lengthy paragraph about having a pedagogic teaching approach & other words that imply that there's a structure behind the way I teach. But, similar like my teaching, I prefer to be more precise and to the point.
Having a scientific & management background, the way I teach resembles one of a personal coach, to carefully introduce you to tango & help you grow sustainably in it. If you're new to the dance, we'll go through some vocabulary (i.e. steps) exercises, with some technique & music drills, to get you up to speed so that you can start enjoying social events as soon as possible. After that, the focus is to develop you as a dancer with a well balanced approach between technique, vocabulary, and musicality in order for you to gain good long-lasting habits and much helpful body awareness (and it keeps things interesting & fun 😉)
I'm always grabbing new knowledge whenever I can, so if you feel like wanting a buddy to shoot ideas and troubleshoot anything you're struggling with, I'm delighted to help!
Here's a list of renown dancers I've had the chance to meet & learn from (for now!):
Vaggelis Hatzopoulos & Marianna Koutandou, Yanina Quiñones & Neri Piliu, Carlitos Espinoza & Agustina Piaggio, Carlos & Mirella Santos David, Jonathan Aguero, Ezequiel Paludi & Geraldine Rojas, Fausto Carpino & Stephanie Fesneau, Horacio Godoy & Maricel Giacomini, Lucas Gauto & Naima Gerasopoulou Ariadna Naveira & Fernando Sanchez
